the day i ask what strep throat is, i manage to get it. well, technically i didn't find out until today but i can say i had it all along. but wait, it's contagious!? dang it, probably should not have drank wendy's orange juice right out of the carton...or drink yaru's delicious home made soup right out of the rice cooker... oh god and phoebe's toothbrush, really should not have used that... sorry roomies
anyways joking aside, my strep throat is apparently a very odd case. first of all, only my left tonsil is inflamed, all red and bulged out like a fat man's beer belly while the right one is perfectly fine, having its beauty sleep. second of all, i have no other symptoms. in most cases, people with strep throat tend to have high fever and swollen lymph glands near the neck area. my only symptom is that i have this really ugly-looking tonsil. even the doctor was sure i didn't have strep throat, but after five minutes into doing the test, results showed that i did indeed.
i was sad, upset. mainly because i'm supposed to have my dad's gene - strong immune system and a body that fights off everything. i rarely get sick and if i do, it's once a year. i guess this can count as my first official one and hope that i don't get sick the rest of the year. another thing, i'm all about natural healing. i've never taken advil/tylenol/penadol/any sort of pain killers in my life because i hate relying on pills. they're deadly in my eyes. but here i am having to take antibiotics, two tablets per day for friggin ten days. that's 20 pills. totally disrupting my no-pill doctrine. not happy.
it all started with my simple curiosity of what strep throat was because one of my friend got it. i never expected myself to actually get it. i suppose now i really know what it is. it's definitely not what i asked for but i sure did get my answer - the hard and painful way.
ps phoebe gets a shout out cause it's her birthday! :)

Cat and Dog: The Story of My Roommates
so i started this blog a few months ago... and i mentioned that the reason for creating this blog was to fulfill my new year's resolution. well, what i didn't mention was that what triggered me to start this blog was really from my urge to write about my roommates. ever since we started living together this year, two of my roommates have developed a peculiar relationship. it's really hard to describe it in words because you just have to live with them to see what i mean. i've found that the best way to describe them is to compare them to "CatDog." If you've never heard of the cartoon, here's a picture:
This picture is actually perfect in so many ways to describe them. First of all, it's a cat and a dog, they're different creatures... they're not supposed to get along. Second of all, their bodies are connected, they're inseparable... even if they hated each other, they would have to kill themselves to get rid of the other. Third of all, the expressions here in this picture are so incredibly alike to that of my two roommates when they interact (okay that maybe a little bit of an exaggeration). the point is, they have a love-hate relationship and watching them interact reminds me of an old couple or a really close sibling. I don't think a day goes by without hearing them groan and moan and throw words of hatred at each other. a typical conversation between them kinda goes like this:
A: "arrrgg stop hitting me, gosh"
B: "geez why are you so faaat... get off my beeed"
A: "this is MY room, YOU go awaaay"
B: "whyyy are you even heeeere??"
and as a peacemaker of the house, i make sure they don't go out of hands. although quite honestly there's no point in me trying because despite all the hating and hitting, i see them cuddled in bed together or sitting on top of each other just simply doing what they do best. i think the pictures best describe their usual roundabouts.
seriously just look at them. they just can't get enough of each other. they are just too inseparable ;) i love my roommates. they entertain me. without my roommates, this blog would not be here.
yes they constantly fight on bed
and now one is mad and will not come out of the blanket
classic example of owning her
look at her dominating
...and then the revenge
oh but look...

Spring Break
my dear brother and cousin left the land of america today. it was so nice to have them here during my spring break. i was so excited that i actually planned the trip months before... can you believe it? me planning?? i don't think i've ever planned something so in detail and upfront like this before. i'm usually a tao person that deals with issues by saying "just go with the flow." if i don't know how to get somewhere, go with the flow... walk around and i'm bound to find some place i'm familiar with. if i don't know what i want in the future, go with the flow... instead of stressing out, i wait for the time to come and whatever happens then is what it will be. it's not the best philosophy to live by but that's another whole issue.
anyways trip consisted of them coming to lehigh all the way from tokyo, heading to philadelphia where randy is (thanks for letting us crash your place) and finally heading to new york city. my poor cousin was so jet lagged, i don't even know how she made it through the entire trip but we all had a great time bonding together. i've always been the one to leave never the one to be left so it was an odd feeling watching them disappear off to the distance as they walked towards the boarding gate waving goodbye.
seriously, the weather couldn't have been any better. the day they left, it started to rain. they bring good luck perhaps.

Moments
people have their "moments" in their life right? it can be as significant like winning a gold medal in the winter olympics (yes im talking about kim yu-na) or as ordinary like remembering to brush your teeth at night (some people would know what i mean haha). anyways my "moments" tend to be made up of minor coincidental events, almost trivial. things that people might go "seriously who cares" and "what's so special about that." well, i find them amusing so i keep a record of coincidental incidents that happen in my life. here are some:
- i caught myself glancing at the digital clock right when it was 11:11 (happened to me couple times actually)
- on 2/25 at 2:25pm i cashed out $25 out from drawer #2 (i work at a ticketing office)
- my co-worker was doing crossword puzzles and the word was "evergreen" which happened to be the patron's name i was searching for at work.
- i went to my friend's cello concert... that night my roommate played the movie "the soloist" and the same exact song was playing
- for 3 consecutive times, someone was coming out right as i was swiping my card to get inside the dorm entrance (one guy actually screamed like a girl which scared me more than the sudden opening of the door)
- i dreamt that my close friend at lehigh got into dental school at UPenn. two weeks later, he found out he got admitted to UPenn's dental school - the first to hear back from the many he applied to. am i a psychic or what...
there's a lot more to this list and i'm sure there's more to come. like i said, these happen in a span of few seconds and yet the impact is big enough that i take time to reflect in awe. it really doesn't take much to amuse me and it may be the reason why i can be so easily content with the things i have and the situations i'm in. i don't know if that's a good or bad thing but whatever it is, it does make me think that life is always good :)
